At Moore Martial Arts we teach a combination of complete martial art systems. They are Anshinkai-do Karate and Kosho Ryu Kempo. Anshinkai-do translates to “The Way of the Peaceful Mind”. Anshinkai-do Karate is a traditional Japanese Okinawa school. Anshinkai-do karate combines the traditions of Shorin-ryu, Goju-ryu, and Shotokan, as well as, Judo and Filipino martial arts.  Anshinkai-do karate focus is on teaching practical self defense not sport karate as you would see in the movies or on television. Anshinkai-do teaches traditional karate concepts on forms/kata and basics such as; strikes/Atemi, blocks/Uke, kicks/Geri, stances/Dachi and falling/Ukemi. Anshinkai-do karate also studies the martial arts history as it relates to Anshinkai-do lineage as well as other martial art systems.

The art of Kosho Ryu Kempo is the art of True Self Defense, Kosho Ryu means Old Pine Tree School and Kempo means Fist Law.  Kosho Ryu Kempo was brought to the United States by the 21st descendent Great Grand Master James Mitose in 1936.  He then granted Bruce Juchnik Hanshi to be the 22nd inheritor of Kosho Ryu Kempo in 1979.  Kosho is the study of Natural Laws and concepts of the self.  Kosho Kempo is a constant study.  Kosho combines the study of martial, cultural and the healing arts.  The practioners also study Jinshin-do, or the way of the compassionate spirit, as well as, politeness and respect for themselves and others.  The roots of Kosho Kempo began in 799 A.D. in Kyushu Japan.  For more information on Kosho Ryu Kempo.
